Tota Keri Chaat is derived from Toto Puri Mango. Tota Puri is a type of Mango that has shaped like a beak of a parrot hence the word Tota. It is tart and sweet in flavor and used by many street vendors in India. They would sprinkle salt, chia powder on the it and it would taste so delicious. The salt and red chili powder brings out the tartness from the mango and balances all the flavors. It brings back so many childhood memories. Even today when we visit Matheran or other Hill stations we find these vendors and enjoy these yummy treats.

Tota Keri Chaat | Raw Mango Chaat

Kachi Keri or Toto Keri Chaat reminds me of my school days. We had a lady who would sit outside our school and she would have Raw Mango, Bor, Star Fruit and Fresh Fennel Seeds. It would be so much fun to get out of school and relish on these yummy mango bites that would taste spicy, tangy and salty. I am sharing this quick idea that you can make during this summer and enjoy the raw mangos. Checkout the recipe below and trust me once you take a bite of one you won’t stop.
