Intro

Whipped Feta Dip has been by latest obsession . I have tried it many different ways and it tastes so delicious when paired along with mushrooms above all. The cheese is salty and the yogurt and lime juice balances the flavors. I like to top the mushrooms with hot honey to make it all come together. This dip will be a crowd pleaser and no one will know that it has whipped Feta. You can also skip the mushrooms and garlic and make this a no onion or garlic version and serve it along with other veggies or part of your mezzo platter.

Health Benefits

Feta cheese is low in calories and fat compared to other cheeses. It contains calcium and vitamin B. The greek yogurt adds more protein to this dish  and makes a filling and healthy snack. The mushrooms are loaded with antioxidants and are rich in protein and fiber.

 Dish History

Whipped Feta has been trending for few years and now it is readily available in the market. During 2020 or Covid times, Baked Feta had its moment and then everyone jumped on the whipped Feta trend.  It has been served by itself but why not elevate the dip and serve it along with roasted mushrooms for the perfect bite.

How to make Whipped Feta Dip with Roasted Mushrooms?

Preheat the oven to 375 degree Fahrenheit

Wash, Dry  and chop the mushrooms and place them in a baking dish

Drizzle olive oil over the mushrooms

Lightly salt the mushrooms as the mushrooms will shrink in size and feta cheese is salty and sprinkle black pepper powder

Toss the mushrooms with salt, black pepper powder and olive oil

Once the oven is preheated, roast the mushrooms in the oven for 30 minuets or till they are brown

While the mushrooms are being roasted, make the whipped feta dip

In a food processor whip together crumbled feta cheese along greek yogurt, black pepper powder, chili flakes, lime juice and olive oil.

Do not add salt to the dip as the feta cheese is usually salty.

Whip it into a smooth consistency and use a strainer if needed

On a plate, layer the feta dip and then top it off with roasted mushrooms

Drizzle hot honey and garnish with chopped cilantro

Serve it along with toasted bread as an appetizer
