Kobi Vatana nu shaak | Cabbage Peas Shaak

Cabbage Peas Shaak is a light and healthy vegetable stir fry. Shaak which is called sabzi in Hindi is a vegetable curry. Kobi Vatana nu shaak is  a Gujarati style dry curry that can be served along with Rotli or parathas. It can be cooked super quickly and cane be served as a main or a side in a thali.

Ingredients
  

  • 3 cups chopped Cabbage
  • 1/2 cup frozen or fresh green peas
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt as needed
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1/4 tsp asafetida powder
  • 1 and 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 2 tablespoon chopped cilantro

Instructions
 

  • Chop the cabbage into thin long strips
  • You can use frozen or fresh peas for this recipe. If using fresh peas, boil it for 10-15 minutes till they are semi cooked
  • Heat a pan and add oil
  • Once the oil heats up, add cumin seeds, mustard seeds and asafetida powder
  • Once the seeds sizzles, add peas and cook till it is semi cooked
  • Add chopped cabbage
  • Add turmeric powder and red chili powder and mix it well
  • Once the cabbage releases water and soften, add salt
  • Mix it well and turn off the heat
  • Sprinkle chopped cilantro and serve it along with hot chapatis
