Lilva or Peas Toastie | High Protein stuffed Sandwich

Lilva Sandwich is going to change your life. The Lilva stuffing that we use in a kachori can be used in so many things. I like to keep some in my freezer and use it in so many things. This sandwich is filling and is perfect for lunches, dabbas, tiffins and so much more. You will enjoy each and every bite of this sandwich.

Ingredients
  

Lilva Stuffing

  • 1 and 1/2 cup fresh or frozen lilva beans
  • 9-10 green chillies
  • 1 inch piece of ginger
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds
  • 1/4 tsp asafetida powder
  • 1 and 1/2 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • Salt as needed
  • 1 tsp fennel seeds
  • 2 tablespoon shredded coconut

Sandwich

  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 2 tablespoon of cilantro chili chutney
  • 2 tablespoon chaat masala
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 2 plum tomato cut in to slices skip if making for picnic
  • 1/2 English cucumber cut into slices
  • 2 cubes amul cheese
  • 6 slices of bread
  • 3 tablespoon tomato ketchup

Instructions
 

Lilva or Peas Stuffing

  • Wash the Lilva beans and let it drain
  • In a food processor, grind lilva beans along with green chilies and ginger
  • In a pan heat oil on medium heat
  • Add sesame seeds and asafetida powder
  • Now add Lilva bean mixture let it cook for few minutes
  • Add sugar, turmeric powder, salt and fennel seeds and mix it well
  • Add coconut and lime juice
  • Cook the beans till the mixture is dry and has not moisture, turn off the heat and let it cool

Assembling the Sandwich

  • Apply butter and chutney on slices of bread
  • Layer the Lilva or Peas stuffing on one side of the bread
  • Shred 1/2 cube of Amul cheese on the stuffing
  • Lay another bread on top with chutney side facing on top
  • Place tomato slices on bread with chutney side facing on top
  • Sprinkle chaat masala on tomato slices
  • Layer it with cucumber slices over the tomato slices
  • Sprinkle chaat masala on cucumber slices
  • Seal the bread with the chutney side facing down
  • Place it in a toastie baker and apply butter on out side of the bread
  • Let it toast for 6-7 minutes till brown on both sides
  • Serve with ketchup or chutney
