Kutchi Dabeli is a famous street food in India especially in Gujarat and Maharashtra. I grew up eating them on the streets and we called it Double Roti. The textures of peanuts, potatoes and pomegranate seeds works so well together in between a Pav bread. The flavor is bit more sweet and spicy just like any ordinary gujarati dish. I made Dabeli Phyllo Cups using the same stuffing from Dabeli and replacing the Pav. It adds lot crunch and tastes so delicious. It’s a perfect way to serve them as an appetizer when entertaining for parties especially during Diwali. I promise your guests will be drooling and will crave for more. It’s very easy to make them and you can make the filling ahead of time. I can’t wait for you to make them.
Add cumin seeds and Dabeli masala and cook for few minutes till the masala and is mixed well
Add boiled potatoes, kashmiri chili and salt and mix everything throughly and turn off the heat
Once the potato mixture cools off, add cilantro, peanuts, pomegranate seeds and onions. Mix it together and keep the Dabeli filling ready, can me made ahead of time.
Bake the phyllo cups in oven for few minutes
Fill each cup with the pre-made Dabeli filling
Drizzle cilantro chutney and tamarind dates chutney
